Greeting Cards Now Available! |
 |
Just in time for the holidays, Lucidiom now has a greeting card component
available for purchase. Existing APM owners, add "APM Greetings!" to your APM for
$450. (This software normally retails for $600.) The software is fun, colorful,
fast and really easy to use for all your busy holiday shoppers.
Customers can enhance photo color, correct red eye and add text to their card.
APM Greetings! comes with 12 templates (a variety of themes in sizes 4x6, 4x8, 5x7 and 8x10).
Additional card templates are available from Aperion; just ask for
the APM-compatible templates. The PRO Group is also offering a set of APM-compatible templates
to their members.

Spotlight on Wolfe's Camera
|
|
|
We spoke with Jim Talley, VP of Lab Services for Wolfe's Camera in Topeka, Kansas. Jim offers a first reaction
to the new APM Greetings! add-on that they have been giving a test-run.
|
What type of store do you have?
JT: We are a PRO camera shop. We are a full service photofinishing lab and we also sell cameras, camcorders, computers and custom framing.
What type of printers are you connected to and how?
JT: We print on an Agfa d-2 Plus. We connect to that through the Print Station and Photogize.
What marketing techniques have you found to be successful in selling digital?
JT: Whenever we sell a camera, we take the customer over and show them
how to order prints on the Lucidiom APM. We have also done a lot of radio advertising.
What is your favorite feature of the APM?
JT: Ease of use. Customers love it...they don't have to go through a lot of screens and they don't get confused with it.
Other kiosks are more complicated.
What do you think of APM Greetings? Do you normally do a big card business around this time of year?
JT: We like the templates in the software, there is a wide variety of choices for the customer to choose from.
Customers will love it because of its ease of use and the wide variety of choices, and they can do it all
themselves. We usually do big [greeting card] business around this time of year;
our biggest days are usually after Thanksgiving.

APMPhotos.com - Your Own Online Photo Site!
|
APMPhotos.com* is your own online photo ordering site that you can set up with your products,
your prices, your logo and you print the orders. Think of your apmphotos.com site
as a virtual APMits just another way to collect print orders. When an order lands
in your Print Station it looks just like orders from your other APMs. Collect payment upon
pickup or accept credit card payments on your site.
So, your customers get the quality they are used to from your lab and you keep them your
customers--even when they order prints from home! APMPhotos.com sites retail for $1500, but
are on sale until the end of the year for $1200.

Meet Lucidiom! |
|
Meet Jason Pareti, Lucidiom's VP of Product Development. Jason is an Aries and likes long walks on
the beach. He also oversees the planning, developing and releasing of all Lucidiom's software.
This means he has put in many, many late hours at the office. Jason has a BSE degree in Computer
Science from the University of Pennsylvania so he occasionally helps out in the programming
department as well.
Hands off ladies, Jason is engaged and will tie the knot this January! I asked Jason what
he liked to do in his free time and he said, I don't have any free time. Then he said, "watch TV and
go to Wendy's...and plan weddings!" Jason does attend many of Lucidiom's trade shows, so if you
see him milling around the booth, stop in and say hello.

From the Support Desk
1. Installing the Update: Please close your Hardware Attendant before installing the update. Please read
all the directions on the website before installing the update. APM owners, click here for
the update installer and full release notes.
2. Activation: We have updated our activation process! While it is a good idea to
have your APM(s) and Print Stations connected to the internet to take advantage of the
APM Network and other online functionality, it is no longer required to activate or
reactivate your licenses for your systems. With the release of 2.2.0, we now have an
offline activation utility that allows you to install/reactivate/renew your license
offline. With this new tool, you can simply call support and provide them the code
supplied by the activation tool. They will then supply a response code that will update
your license. If your APM is online, the activation process will be the same as before, with your machine
automatically updating as necessary.
3. Service Pack 2: We are currently testing Microsoft's Service Pack 2 and do not yet support installing it.
When we do support it, we will let you know in a newsletter and on our website.
We will also include additional steps, if any, that need to be taken to ensure that the APM and
Print Station will function properly with Service Pack 2 installed.
We welcome any feedback or suggestions from customers who have installed it on their own. Email: support@lucidiom.com
More information at: www.lucidiom.com/support.htm.
4. Support Agreement Expiration:
Interested in new updates and new features, but not sure when your support agreement expires?
Just go into the Configuration Manager and touch the "Information" button. This will tell you when
your support license expires. If you want to continue support and to access the APM network this
support maintenance will need to be renewed, however, if you choose not to renew, you will still
be able to use your APM, minus the support, new updates and the APM Network.
