APM 1500 Wins Top Honors! |
The APM 1500 won second (to Kodak's kiosk) in the DIMA Kiosk Shoot-Out at PMA.
For retailers, the Lucidiom APM is the way to go for its comprehensive back-end infrascructure
and support tools and easy setup, upgrade and
maintenance capabilities. The APM 1500 retails for $5500. Since the software, interface and back-end
capabilities
are the same between all APMs the first question people at the show asked was "What's so different about
the APM 1500 then?" The main draw to the APM 1500 at the show was the sleek new look of the box itself.
It is compact and durable but there are other features that set the APM 1500 apart from the competion:
the receipt
printer is inside the box (and accessible from the front), the CD burner is fast and sturdy,
the LED screen can be
programmed with a custom marketing message, the back panel opens neatly for easy maintenance, there is an
empty media bay
that can be used for a credit card swiper or any other type of media drive, the screen is crisp and bright,
there is a 3.5"x5" holder mounted to the front for an easily-changable sales or marketing message,
there is an
optional SCSI port
(for some printers) in the back, Bluetooth and infrared are integrated, there are 2 USB ports on the front,
and the card readers are fast and top-quality--the Compact Flash slot design prevents pins inside
from being bent or broken when customers insert the card incorrectly.
|
For those interested in a lower-cost option, with an adjustable screen and smaller
footprint, don't worry, the APM 1000 is still available!

Speakers Series |
This year at PMA, we had a second booth across the aisle that served as a conference room
and speakers center. Speakers ranged from industry experts to our own customers to Lucidiom
staff providing support and new product information.
A special thanks to
Don Franz (Photofinishing News),
John Goodine (Elm City Camera),
Harry Loyle (MotoPhoto Corporate),
Leo Lynne (EquiCapital Leasing),
Joel Miller (MotoPhoto),
Steve Olock (Dan's Camera City) and
Richard Salerno (Milford Heirloom)
for kicking off the first ever Lucidiom Speakers Series at PMA. The presentations
were interesting and informative. Listeners packed the chairs and flowed into
the aisles.

Meet Lucidiom! |
Meet Shu-Ping Liu, Lucidiom's Quality Assurance Engineer and Tech Support Rep extraordinaire!
Shu-Ping was born in Taiwan and moved to the U.S. in 2000 to attend The George Washington University in
Washington DC, where she studied Computer Science. Shu-Ping interned with
Lucidiom for the summer of 2003 where her technical expertise and grace in helping customers was
quickly recognized. We hired her as soon as she graduated, in May of 2004. While you can still
catch her on the phone helping a client, Shu-Ping has also started to utilize her computer science
skills in the areas of software testing and product quality assurance.
Shu-Ping speaks fluent Mandarin and her favorite sport is ping-pong.

From the Support Desk
1. Install the Latest Update (2.2.0 build 6): This updater should be run on all your APMs
as well as any Print Station computers. Please close your Hardware Attendant and read the
directions on the website before installing the update.
APM owners, click here for
the update installer and full release notes.
2. Support Agreement Expiration: Interested in new updates and new features, but not sure
when your support agreement expires? After the first year, you must renew your agreement.
Keep your system current! Call Sales at 703.564.2025 to renew your license or to check when it expires.
Reminder: If you purchased your APM at PMA last year, you are due for license renewal.
3. Service Pack 2: We now officially support the installation of Service Pack 2 on the APM.
We recommend that you complete any pending orders, then close all APM software, then use the Windows
Update feature on your APM to download and install Service Pack 2.
If you have installed Bluetooth, Service Pack 2 will load a newer, much improved driver.
Service Pack 2 also adds some enhanced security and a firewall. However, each installation may require
some adjustment to the firewall settings to accommodate other programs and/or your unique network setup.
There may also be some items that the firewall will prompt you to answer, such as if you want to
allow APM Dispatcher to access the internet. If this appears, choose "Unblock."
When you install Service Pack 2, be sure to let it make a backup copy of your settings
should you need to uninstall it for any reason.
