APM 3.1 Released!

Version 3.1 for the APM and Print Station is now available for download. Version 3.1 contains important behind-the-scenes fixes and advanced diagnostic tools. It also contains support for additional scanners for use with the APM Scanning (Print-to-Print) component, functionality for creating photos according to the new German ePass requirements through the APM Passport component and support for setting up to 99 pickup locations.

This is a very important release and we encourage you to make sure your APMs and Print Stations are updated to 3.1. For a list of exactly what is in this version, please read the 3.1 release notes.

How to Install 3.1
You can install this update today by visiting the support section of lucidiom.com (login required) and downloading the update installer. Don't forget to also update your Print Station at the same time!

Spotlight on Spectrum Imaging, UK

Spectrum Imaging has been using Lucidiom kiosks for nearly 2 years and currently have 4 units offering both instant (via dye-sub) and minilab printing solutions.

"Each kiosk is another front door to my digital minilab. The more APMs I have - the more images we recieve to print," says Phil Rigby, founder and owner of Spectrum. "I have 4 Lucidiom kiosks in the customer area and would have more if I had the space. We have just placed them on whatever flat surfaces we can find--I'm sure it would be better to have a nice dedicated area but our clients have embraced them fully by walking over and getting stuck in."

Spectrum is located in Newcastle upon Tyne, close to the University area of Newcastle, in the northeast of England. "It is impossible to imagine running Spectrum Imaging without our kiosks," Rigby says, adding that "service and support from Lucidiom have been superb."

Meet Lucidiom!

Jason Wu, Senior Software Engineer

Jason was born and raised in Shanghai, China. He is the second child in a large family of five children. Fortunately, he was born before China's 'one child only' policy was adopted!

He started his career as a middle school teacher before coming to the United States to pursue an advanced degree in logic and philosophy of language. He earned a PhD in Computational Linguistics from the University of Maryland.

Jason joined Lucidiom in October 2005 as a senior software engineer. He loves what he is doing and continues to learn new technologies. He is a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer.

Jason is an avid reader who enjoys reading about a wide variety of topics, from Oriental mythology to current technologies. He was a soccer fan back in China, but has lived in the States long enough for his soccer passion to be replaced by an ever-growing one for American football. When his home team (the Redskins) isn't playing, Jason likes to root whoever is behind.

Jason starts his day with a 40-minute jog (if weather permits—and that’s not an excuse!) and a cup of green tea. This way, he can have a fresh and energetic start for the day's work!

Jason and his wife, Yanling, have been happily married for 11 years.

New APM Version 3 User's Guide Now Available:
The updated User's Guide for APM Version 3 is posted in the support section of Lucidiom.com. The Guide is up-to-date with the most current version of the software and contains a screen-by-screen description of the APM software and its supporting applications, including the relatively new Setup Wizard. Click here to log in and view the pdf.

TIP for Template Installation: When you install templates on your APM, use the Setup Wizard on the APM to configure which designs and sizes you want to offer. If you manage your print workflow with the Print Station, you must also use the Setup Wizard on the Print Station to map where each size card is printed. (If you do not use the Print Station, this configuration is done in the APM's Setup Wizard.) You may also need to configure your printer driver to accommodate any new template sizes.
