A Sneak Peek at Luci!

Roll out the red carpet, Luci has arrived! At PMA, Lucidiom will announce the addition of Luci, a brand new scrapbooking kiosk and supporting program, to our line-up. The Luci system was specifically designed for the scrapbooker and combines the ease and flexibility of the APM with the flair and creativity demanded by today's scrapbooker. Scrappers use the touch screen to add multiple photos, title and journaling text boxes to Luci Layouts, creating beautiful memories they can print on the spot.

Each Luci will arrive in your store with 6 different layout themes designed by Digital Scrapbook Place. Each set will include 12 unique coordinating layout templates. Lucidiom will deliver to your Luci new sets of Luci Layouts regularly. You will also receive periodic updates of additional Luci Layouts that are available for purchase.

Scrapbooking 101

In recent years, scrapbooking has developed into a seriously-lucrative business that is making photo retailers wake up and take notice. If you are in the photo business, you may not know it, but you are in the scrapbooking business already. And if you haven't gotten into scrapbooking more than simply serving as a print shop, now is the time. For those of you unfamiliar with the market, here is a lesson on the quirky terminology you may hear as more and more scrappers flood your retail locations...

Print: A print is a photo. (Okay, most of you knew that one.)
Cropping: When you cut the photo, scrappers call this cropping.
Crops: Crops are events where people get together and crop.
Tools you might find in a scrapbookers bag: Cutters or trimmers, adhesive, punches and pens.
Card Stock: Thick, sometimes textured, solid colored paper used on scrapbook pages.
Decorative Paper: Thinner than cardstock, this paper has patterns on it.
Embellishments: Trinkets, often with adhesive backing, that you can attach to your scrapbook page.
Sticker Sneeze: When you have stickers all over your page (these can be messy).
Journaling: This is any storytelling you include on the pages. This is what turns the page from collage into cherished memory.
Luci Layouts: Creative and very cute sets of scrapbook pages you can customize and print at a Luci kiosk.

Meet Lucidiom!

Kesley Anderson, VP Scrapbook & Craft Business Development

Kesley joined Lucidiom in December as the Vice President of Scrapbook and Craft Business Development. Her title sounds like a pretty fun gig, but this "scrapper" knows her stuff. Kesley serves on the advisory board of the PMA's Professional Scrapbook Retailers Organization. She opened and operated the first and largest scrapbook store in the Northern Virginia area for eight years prior to joining Lucidiom.

Kesley has 3 kids: Ryan, Adam and Daisy. They are her favorite subject to take photos of but they never are still enough for her to get a good shot! Kesley's husband, Mike, is a CPA. They have been married 12 years.

She admits to singing whenever no one is around--car, shower...office? Well, we haven't heard her belting out tunes from the office, not yet, anyway! Kesley loves spending time with her family and doing all the fun stuff she liked to do when she was a kid...swinging, writing in chalk on the driveway and playing hide-and-seek. Her boys even let her use their scooter...though, due to a history of injury, they have to stick around and supervise mom.
